Rollback Vista to XP.

People like to get their new computers out of the box and start playing with them straight away. But my Dad had to wait 2 months before I came to visit so I could roll it back to XP. If your vista machine has SATA drives then you may not have the right drivers on your XP install disk and your install will blue screen the blue screen. You can probably get the drivers from your Computer Vendor and burn yourself a CD with nLite. I managed to do it but it took me bloody ages. (I am not skilled in that area)

If you're purchasing a HP desktop then you'll be happy to know that you'll also get the Rollback CDs if you get Vista Business.

Here's an article on Microsoft's website that may be of interest.

In the meantime you can always run Ubuntu
