Convert Microsoft Office 2007 (docx)
Submitted by rimian on Thu, 05/29/2008 - 01:07
The latest release of Microsoft Office 2007 uses OpenXML as the default document format. This format offers no benefit (to consumers) over the already released standard ISO26300 named Open Document Format (ODF). See http://www.noooxml.org/petition .
I urge you not to support Microsoft's office 2007 format!
There are a few converters online that cost a few dollars to open a document. but you can do it for free if you run windows XP or Vista.
From the microsoft site download the (free) Word 2003 Viewer. This can be converted using the Microsoft Office 2007 compatibility pack.
From there you should be able to copy and past into Open Office.
