God I hate cross browser screwidness.

Just run across this one. I'm putting together a site for a client and including a little bit of AJAX goodness to make it a little snappier.

However I've discovered that IE6 and below does not support the XMLHttpRequest Javascript object, instead relying on the XMLHttp object it gets from ActiveX.

I'm now having to go through and recode

So you want to write an Simple Ajax Script?

AJAX means Asynchronous Javascript and XML. It's one of those acronyms with an acronym in it. I love those. It means your browser doesn't have to reload the entire web page to get some information from the server. You can fetch some information from the server on a Javascript Event and reload only a part of your HTML Document.

Joe Hewitt has released his beta 4 Version of Firebug. What is it?

Firebug is a debugger tool that lets you view and edit the CSS, HTML and Ajax of your webpages. It is a developer's addon for Firefox designed to keep all the information about your document at your fingetips. It has a swag of handy tools to monitor such things as Network Activity, Javascript and the Document Object Model.
