See the web through Google coloured glasses.

It's important to understand the way your web page is presented to search engines if you want to understand Search Engine Optimsation.

Search engines crawlers read text efficiently but will struggle to extract the right information out of your web pages if you rely heavily on Graphics or Flash. Dynamic URLs can hinder search bots accessing your site also.

The Google sitemap protocol can overcome some of these problems for you. See: http://www.sitemaps.org/

But if you really want to see the internet as a search engine does then you'll need a text only browser. Lynx has been used on Unix/Linux for years and is available on Windows too.

Lynx was developed at The University of Kansas in the 80s and is still widely used today. But don't go uninstalling IE or Firefox just yet!

Because Lynx is a text only browser you'll be able to see your web pages much like a machine does. There are no pretty colours or pictures to distract you. Lynx is run from the command line on Linux so you might find it's already on your system.
