increase traffic with a mirror on .au server
Submitted by rimian on Wed, 12/13/2006 - 05:48
if your site is only on an American server then you'd expect to pick up results mainly from the US.
if you had a mirror on an aussie server then you'd turn up the search results on google.com.au
this is regardless of whether or not the person searching chooses to search "the web" or "pages from australia". it still filters the results either way.
so you'd have to balance the increased traffic you might get from the .au domain against the loss of traffic if google thinks you'ree spamming them with duplicate sites.
i don't know exactly what would happen. most of the SEO stuff comes out of the U.S anyway so you would have to experiment.
