PHP Developer / Programmer Needed (casual)

WEB PROGRAMMING SPECIALIST NEEDED

If you’re a talented, passionate programmer (enough that you write code in your own time), and would love to get your foot in the door of an online company with a very bright future. Then we want to talk to you!

WHO WE ARE...

Zibbet.com is a global marketplace connecting buyers and sellers of Handmade goods, Fine Art, Vintage Items and Crafting Supplies. We are currently in Beta, and have only been ‘live’ since February, 2009. Learn more at – www.zibbet.com/aboutus

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...

Very simply, you will be required to develop new and exciting site features. To give you an idea, you’ll be building a customized forum from scratch, incorporating blogging ability for seller’s shops, giving sellers the ability to customize their shop in a number of ways including adding html to their shop front. The list goes on and on!

Project Background – The website has been developed using a custom developed PHP framework (similar in some ways to "Cake" or "Symphony") by a development firm based in Melbourne. Initially your role will be to learn this framework so that you can enhance the website. I should note the Melbourne based developers are actively supporting us in employing our own developers, so they'll be available to give some input into how the framework operates.

WHAT YOU'LL BE EARNING...

$25-$30/hour (negotiable based on experience).

YOU MUST HAVE...

* Strong programming knowledge – Proficiency in Linux / PHP is a must. You will have a head start if you can show skills in SQL, Unix Admin, and web technologies such as CSS, Javascript and Flash. Skills in Java or C++ will be a definite advantage as our PHP framework has similarities to Java.
* A knowledge of software development methodologies – the ability to work to specifications, within a defined development process and to produce maintainable code.
* Database modeling skills – most of our work involves use of a relational database. You'll need to be comfortable in both modeling database structures and using database technology in your work.
* A hard working attitude – We want to work with someone who has a hard working, ‘can do’ attitude.
* Good time-management skills – The ability to manage your time well and meet deadlines is a must.

WHERE WILL I BE WORKING?

You’ll be working from the comfort of your own home! You’ll be required to keep us updated on your progress and meet with us regularly to go over your work and be briefed over new tasks.

WHEN DO APPLICATIONS CLOSE?

Applications close midnight Monday, 6th July. Early applications will be reviewed prior to this date.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Visit http://www.zibbet.com/job and fill in an online profile. If we like what we read you’ll be progressed to our online test.
