Finding yummy recipes on Google using localised searches
Submitted by rimian on Tue, 11/21/2006 - 09:22
I had my quick search toolbar set on google.co.uk accidentally. It took me a while to notice because it always bypassed the home page and I never paid too much attention.
Then after I fixed it back to google.com.au I couldn't find a recipe I had cooked the week before until i went back to the .co.uk engine.
I have known that google.com returns different results depending on where you are but it never occured to the that this could be an excellent way of finding local recipes.
It could be argued that a search for "casserole" on http://www.google.fr would find a tastier result than http://www.google.com
