Find Stuff with Beagle

We used to have a beagle called Ozzie. My father is a cartoonist and illustrator so you can see him here. He got so fat that my dad wrote "no not feed me" on his head so when he roamed the neighbourhood everyone got the message.

If you want to sniff through your personal information space, on your Linux machine for something that was in the back of your mind but you can't quite remember where or when you heard it then you might need this different type of beagle.

Beagle can find documents, emails & attachments, web history, IM/IRC conversations, addressbook contacts, calendar appointments, notes, source code, images, music/video files, archives and their contents, applications and much more. This is great for when you remember something but can't remember where you heard it. Just tell beagle to find it and it will look through all your stuff no matter where it is.

Beagle works by indexing your emails, files and irc chats as they are created or modified. It's gaining momentum on the Linux desktop with GUI applications for both KDE and Gnome.

People who are concerned about Google Desktop and their privacy might be happier with beagle.
